01 -My Story

In 2014, while working full time as a Chartered Accountant, my best mate Jesse and I launched a Kickstarter campaign for a uniquely designed water bottle. It was a side hustle that we dreamed could break us out of the corporate shackles. We raised $260,000 before the product existed. Life changed forever.

What followed was 12 years of building memobottle into a global brand through every obstacle imaginable. Near-bankruptcy. COVID wiping 80% of our revenue overnight. Sleeping on factory floors in Taiwan. Our products being stocked in 2,000+ stores. Shipping to 100+ countries. An 8-figure business we built from nothing, together.

COVID took 80% of our revenue in a single week.

The accounting background helped. But what actually shaped how I think about building is the 12 years of doing it. The near-misses, the mistakes you only make once, and the stuff that doesn't make the highlight reel but is probably the most useful part.

That's what I'm trying to share.

02 -Advisory & Mentoring

The hard part isn't starting. It's knowing what to fix next.

For ten years I did it the hard way. No mentors, no network, no one who'd been through it telling me what actually mattered. Just Jesse and I figuring it out as we went - and paying full price for every lesson.

We nearly went broke three times. We scaled too fast, hired wrong, lost our culture, and watched years of work unravel. Every time, we found a way back. But I look at how long it took us to get here and I think about how different it would have been if someone had just sat with us early on and said - here's where the leak is, here's what to ignore, here's the one thing you should be doing right now.

That's what I do for founders now.

I work with a small number of physical product founders who are established but stuck. We start with an honest audit of the business - the cash flow, the unit economics, the operations, the team, the strategy. We find the leaky buckets. We patch them. Then we identify the two or three things that will actually move the needle and build extreme focus around those. Direction and accountability.
